OpenAI's Intelligent UI promises apps that ChatGPT builds on demand, generated on the fly to teach you things or help you get stuff done. We tried it before the show, and it didn't quite live up to the demos. Sam and Kabarza look at the examples, test it themselves, and imagine ChatGPT becoming an operating system with persistent custom apps.

best I could get out of it to teach me something some buttons that don't even like work. What the hell is this? Command AI Chat GPT and you know, open AI are basically have self-building on-demand apps inside of their platform. They call it GPT intelligent UI. Now unfortunately, we both used this before the show and I can't get this to work even using their prompts. Nowadays, we all go to Chat GPT to learn stuff. But what intelligent UI is actually tries to understand what it is you're trying to learn and puts together like an interactive UI that is exactly that on-demand apps. So then it's generating this UI on the fly to teach them how to do stuff. This one tries to help you understand the seven-speed bike. So this all this UI is apparently being generated on the fly. So it's really cool from a learning perspective, but I couldn't get it to work. They are do open AI are really guilty of this where they're doing lots of like rolling out of stuff and I'm guessing I I might not have got it yet. This one's interesting as well. Look, it builds you a little bill splitter so that you can actually click around and Yeah. you know, do certain quite nice thing for people who don't immediately think of building apps on their computer. We've spoken about it for years to be fair. This master app Chat GPT or Claude just becoming this master app where you just do everything from and this probably further puts it into people's minds that oh, I I can just ask it and it will build me a little app. I didn't get quite the the nice visuals that it was promised, but as you see here, I was like help me with the with the podcast thing and first it did this which is horrendous. It's not like a very interesting UI. And then I said use better visuals to explain and then it did this which is interactive. Interesting. So it is interactive. And then I said, you generate this using intelligent UI. And it did quite literally the same thing. So, it is interactive. It is not as cool as the examples that they showed, but So, there's always been like an element of UI that gets generated. However, I think this probably takes it a step further by making it almost into an app. Yeah. So, that's quite interesting when you say app. It It makes me think if ChatGPT and Claude, if they were an operating system. I mean, they'd love it if they were the operating system itself. But imagine where you could have these apps and pin them in your desktop or whatever and reuse them. So, from a conversation, you might make an app and then have it locally to reuse it, but uh maybe they will they will add that. Kind of like some persistent type of like apps. Similar how we had projects and we had custom GPTs. I think potentially we will have custom apps because people do need the visual. We don't love just reading, reading, reading. This is part of a larger conversation on my show, Command AI, which we stream live every single week. We discuss the news and all things related to AI in the world of design and web. Catch us next week and join in the banter. Command AI.
